Life is Beautiful 2014

I have made the realization- I am the luckiest girl in the whole world. This past weekend was the 2nd annual Life is Beautiful festival here in Vegas, and it was amazing. Lucky for me, I was able to attend with my best friend, Cameron.

Friday night, Kanye West was the headliner. He was awesome! I didn't think I would know as many of his songs as I did, but he also played some of his old stuff like Gold Digger and Heartless. It was a really fun time, even though I'm too short to see over anyone haha.

We only went that night to see Kanye who played last, so we didn't really take too many photos unfortunately! Concerts are honestly amazing though and I wish I had the opportunity to go to more!

Saturday we skipped out on as well mainly because I have school in the morning (which I was absolutely wrecked for after staying up so late seeing Kanye) and acting classes at night. We thought about going to see Lionel Richie and Outkast, but we ended up not going.

Sunday, my fav band the Arctic Monkeys played and it was completely magical. Alex is so hot and he was like RIGHT THERE!!! It was amazing!

I tried to record as much as I could so that I was able to relive it over and over long after the festival cleared out of Downtown. I couldn't believe I was really seeing them.

In true Downtown Las Vegas fashion, there were some amazing murals and art pieces created for the festival on buildings and what not. They all rocked, but here were my 2 favorites:

If you can't tell, I love that vintage comic book vibe in art. Here's some snap's I took on Sunday night as well. Selfies for days, and we got some awesome gold foil flash tattoos courtesy of Anna Bee Jewlery (http://www.annabeejewelry.com/) She's a resident over at Stitch Factory and will be rolling out a line of these metallic temporary tattoos soon, so keep an eye on her site!

Here's Cam and I taking a cute pic while also trying to show off our metallic tattoos..... It didn't work so well ha.

Shall we move on to my outfits? Because I thought they were pretty rad.

Art in the Park with Momma

Today, my momma and I drove ALL the way out to Boulder City, a small little town right around the Hoover Dam, to attend the Art In The Park festival. Art In The Park is a yearly event where artisans and artists and hobbyists alike set up booths to display and sell their creations. There, you'll find everything from potpourri and scented salts to great Christmas ornaments and hand made fashions. My mom and I love crafty types of nick nack things, so we loved it!!! These types of things also always have really good food, so of course we indulged.

Here you can see that we ate a whole plate of deep fried potatoes that were so good and so oily and so unhealthy but no cares were given on this day. Aren't we twins?! I love my mom, she's my best friend and I had such a lovely day with her.

We passed by one of the booths and a piece of artwork really caught my eye and spoke to me. Lucky for me, they had a smaller print of it! Mom bought it for me as a Christmas gift (which means I don't get it until Christmas >:| ) but I love it and can't wait to display it in my bedroom!

Here's me with it!

Here's a closer photo (I posted this in my snap story hence the caption lol) It so is me. I love shoes!!

Alright alright, I'll get to my outfit.

I have to take a moment really quick to appreciate and admire this awesome Kimono. It has the most lovely print on it!

Fran's Classy Baby Shower!!

I was very excited to join my friend and coworker, Fran, in celebrating the bundle of joy she is about to bring into the world tonight!! She will be having a baby girl in the next few months. She had her baby shower at Scullery downtown and it was hella classy. Here's a photo of (almost) the whole Stitch Factory team supporting our lovely coworker!!

Fran is on the far right, next to me, in black. (: I'm so excited for her and her husband to become parents because I know that little girl is going to grow up in a home full of love! Congratulations to the new family.
Something funny that happened actually was that Jillian and Jen (the two blondes in the above photo) pointed out that Rachel, Haley and I were all matching, wearing various forms of black and white stripes!

So of COURSE we had to take an "Omg we're accidentally matching!!" photo. Before leaving, I had the hardest time picking out an outfit though. I laid two out on my bed and sent a photo of the options to 3 friends to figure out what I should wear. Here were the options:

In the end, the outfit on the right won, but I don't have a well endowed chest to be able to hold that strapless dress up because it's so loose at the top! So I ended up wearing the stripe dress (clearly haha).

Outfit details:
Striped Dress: Styles for Less
Pendant Necklace: Hand-Me-Down from my sister Nikki
Steve Madden electric blue shoes: Platos Closet

Retro Photoshoot

Hi guys!

So a few months ago, my foreign exchange friend Loui and I went out to Nelson, NV to do a retro themed photo shoot! In Nelson, they have a staged old town that is perfect for filming and photography. Its around an hour from where I live, but it's always worth the drive.

I picked out two outfits for myself, one being more of a 50's babe and the other being more grease monkey inspired. I curled my hair and did some victory rolls, and picked out my best red lipstick. Check out some of my favorite shots we got below!

Aren't they just the cutest?? I'm so in love with them. It was great to see one of my dreams come true. I've always wanted to do a retro style shoot haha. Let me know what you think of this awesome shoot in the comments!! (:

2014 VMA's- Red Carpet

The VMA's are home to the scandalous celebs-- and their even more scandalous outfits!

Let's do a quick review of some red carpet looks that sang songs of angels-- and others that fell flat.

Let's start with my favorite looks of the night-

Beyoncé in a Nicolas Jebran black beaded gown. She slays at all red carpet shows. Do you think she woke up this flawless or is her stylist and makeup team to credit for her killer red carpet look? Iggy Azalea wears a beautiful Versace gown that shows off her best ass-ets (lol) and makes her way to the top of my best dressed list.

The "Booty" singer retains her title of fabulousness in a Charbel Zoe gown. I don't even know how old she is but it doesn't matter because she slays all award show red carpets. I'm just surprised she isn't wearing Versace- in the most recent episode of House of Style (hosted by Iggy Azalea) she showed the "Black Widow" rapper around the Versace location on Rodeo drive that was all staged with the famous JLo outfits including the green low V getup she wore back in the 2000's and her costume for Jenny From The Block for her tours.

Two celebs shocked me on the red carpet this year- Kesha and Rita Ora. Kesha showed up looking beautiful and classically elegant in her Johanna Johnson gown despite her hair is dyed rainbow shades. Kesha is really maturing and I'm digging the style she had last night. I don't really follow Rita, but now I know I'm going to have to. All the outfits she wore last night were beautiful and she looks like a fox in this red Donna Karan Atelier gown. That high slit makes her legs look endless and her makeup and hair match the look perfectly.

Lets move to the "what the f?!" outfits on the red carpet:
Taylor Swift: What even is this. Yes, your legs look fabulous, but this Mary Katrantzou romper was NOT made for you. I also am not digging the heel pairing with this romper, I would have stayed with something more neutral since the outfit itself is so loud.

Charlie XCX showed up in a Moschino head-to-toe tiger striped jumpsuit. While loud prints and jumpsuits are totally in at the moment, I thought this look totally flopped. She should have stayed in a more safe ensemble for being a breakout artist.

Amber Rose: It's kind of like she forgot she was supposed to wear clothes to an awards show. While this is fabulous and daring, I'm just not digging it. I think it's not appropriate for this particular award show. She wears a Laurel DeWitt dress-- or should I say embellished bra?

These are some other outfits that I thought were beautiful as well:

And we can't forget about this legendary remake courtesy of Katy Perry and RiFF RAFF:

Katy and RiFF RAFF wear their denim duds made by Versace. Apparently, Britney challenged Katy to do her best Spears impression. I think she nailed it and then some!!

What did you guys think of all these red carpet looks? All of the preformances were fabulous as well- the Beyonce one was iconic.

DIY- Patchy Denim Jacket

Hi friends! Here is my VERY FIRST DIY video that I am so excited to share with you!!

In my own personal trend watching, I've seen patched denim cropping up in upcoming fall fashions. This is the best way to get on the trend while saving so much money!

Traditionally, patched denim jackets cost $60+ retail. I paid $8 for my jacket, $13 in patches, and $4 in tools, coming out to a SERIOUSLY low price of $25!! You all know I love a great bargain and a fun project, and this mixed both (:

Check out my video below!!

Having a MAGICal time!

Yes, I used that tacky pun. But as you fashionistas are well aware, MAGIC is the trade show that happens in Las Vegas twice a year and is the largest men and women's contemporary fashion trade show in the whole world. And, since I have an amazing job, I was fortunate enough to attend for free! My favorite part was WWDMagic, which is the women's showroom at the Las Vegas Convention Center venue. Honestly, that showroom is like heaven. I got my badge scanned and looked up to see nothing but booths on booths of clothes that haven't hit stores yet. I wish they all did Cash-And-Carry because wholesale prices are so much cheaper than retail prices!

I've also decided that I want to start my own online shop. I have the resources to go to these shows, but I think the hardest part of starting an online shop will be the start up costs. I need to set aside a few hundred dollars, but it's a risk I am so willing to take.

Walking along the showroom floors, I just felt so incredibly comfortable. Going up to booths that grabbed my interest, asking questions to the vendors about their products just felt so natural to me. Here are some photos from my 2 days at MAGIC:

My badge!

The Sourcing convention was seemingly endless. There were about 9 USA booths. So disappointing!! Get it together, Merica.

Fashion Snoops F/W 15/16 Trends seminar

Hanging with my homegurls on the WWD floor!

S/S 15 trends! The presenter for this seminar was the best. This was my favorite seminar I attended during the whole convention.

The Pool Trade Show floor was awesome!! Every booth was fun and lively. Surprisingly not all bathing suits though.

Walking into the FN Platform they had this clever spot for photos. Like my new white Oxfords? Shoe creds to the Goodwill on Haight St (:

1/4th of the FN Platform... All the floors were HUGE!

Awesome Denim history lesson displayed in a hallway

LVCC decked out for MAGIC

I'm sad that I was only able to attend for 2 days, because by day 3 I was ready to make a purchase for my shop-to-be! That's okay, it'll be back in Vegas in February, and I'll be ready with a domain name, a business plan, mood boards, social media, everything that I need to be ready with so that these companies take me seriously and want their items to be on my store. I have no clue what I'm going to call it or what styles I'll be selling.... But that's beside the point. All things start with an idea, and that just so happens to be the phase I'm at right now.

They had so many free resource magazines and printed information, so I grabbed all of it. I have 5 lbs of information to read in the next few months so I don't go in blind!
