Art in the Park with Momma

Today, my momma and I drove ALL the way out to Boulder City, a small little town right around the Hoover Dam, to attend the Art In The Park festival. Art In The Park is a yearly event where artisans and artists and hobbyists alike set up booths to display and sell their creations. There, you'll find everything from potpourri and scented salts to great Christmas ornaments and hand made fashions. My mom and I love crafty types of nick nack things, so we loved it!!! These types of things also always have really good food, so of course we indulged.

Here you can see that we ate a whole plate of deep fried potatoes that were so good and so oily and so unhealthy but no cares were given on this day. Aren't we twins?! I love my mom, she's my best friend and I had such a lovely day with her.

We passed by one of the booths and a piece of artwork really caught my eye and spoke to me. Lucky for me, they had a smaller print of it! Mom bought it for me as a Christmas gift (which means I don't get it until Christmas >:| ) but I love it and can't wait to display it in my bedroom!

Here's me with it!

Here's a closer photo (I posted this in my snap story hence the caption lol) It so is me. I love shoes!!

Alright alright, I'll get to my outfit.

Outfit Details:
Blue Floral Kimono: Nasty Gal
Black Muscle Tank Dress: H&M
Necklace: Charlotte Russe
Skinny Belt: H&M
Zeal Sunnies: Zappos
Bag (that you can't really see but its the same in all posts): Gypsy Warrior
Shoes: Charlotte Russe

I have to take a moment really quick to appreciate and admire this awesome Kimono. It has the most lovely print on it!

Such a great year round piece to have in my wardrobe. I think it's only like $27 right now at Nasty Gal, go get one!! Totally recommended.

Having a MAGICal time!

Yes, I used that tacky pun. But as you fashionistas are well aware, MAGIC is the trade show that happens in Las Vegas twice a year and is the largest men and women's contemporary fashion trade show in the whole world. And, since I have an amazing job, I was fortunate enough to attend for free! My favorite part was WWDMagic, which is the women's showroom at the Las Vegas Convention Center venue. Honestly, that showroom is like heaven. I got my badge scanned and looked up to see nothing but booths on booths of clothes that haven't hit stores yet. I wish they all did Cash-And-Carry because wholesale prices are so much cheaper than retail prices!

I've also decided that I want to start my own online shop. I have the resources to go to these shows, but I think the hardest part of starting an online shop will be the start up costs. I need to set aside a few hundred dollars, but it's a risk I am so willing to take.

Walking along the showroom floors, I just felt so incredibly comfortable. Going up to booths that grabbed my interest, asking questions to the vendors about their products just felt so natural to me. Here are some photos from my 2 days at MAGIC:

My badge!

The Sourcing convention was seemingly endless. There were about 9 USA booths. So disappointing!! Get it together, Merica.

Fashion Snoops F/W 15/16 Trends seminar

Hanging with my homegurls on the WWD floor!

S/S 15 trends! The presenter for this seminar was the best. This was my favorite seminar I attended during the whole convention.

The Pool Trade Show floor was awesome!! Every booth was fun and lively. Surprisingly not all bathing suits though.

Walking into the FN Platform they had this clever spot for photos. Like my new white Oxfords? Shoe creds to the Goodwill on Haight St (:

1/4th of the FN Platform... All the floors were HUGE!

Awesome Denim history lesson displayed in a hallway

LVCC decked out for MAGIC

I'm sad that I was only able to attend for 2 days, because by day 3 I was ready to make a purchase for my shop-to-be! That's okay, it'll be back in Vegas in February, and I'll be ready with a domain name, a business plan, mood boards, social media, everything that I need to be ready with so that these companies take me seriously and want their items to be on my store. I have no clue what I'm going to call it or what styles I'll be selling.... But that's beside the point. All things start with an idea, and that just so happens to be the phase I'm at right now.

They had so many free resource magazines and printed information, so I grabbed all of it. I have 5 lbs of information to read in the next few months so I don't go in blind!

If you read my blog, please refer me to your friends. I want to have a huge fan base! Let's interact! Follow me on twitter and instagram, listed in the sidebar of my blog.

Leave your favorite style to wear in the comments on this post, I want to get to know my followers. (:

Friday, July 4th

God Bless America!!

I love the Fourth of July because it's filled with explosions and adventures. This year was probably my favorite one yet!! Here's what I wore:
I am in LOVE with this tank dress from Forever 21. Its on sale for $11.40 right now if you want one too!
My sunglasses are a cutie pair by Zeal, available at zappos.com
I love the crochet on the back of it. Such a great addition!

I got this hat from a thrift shop. The original ribbon is just black, so I added a bow clip to where the real bow is. Worked out perfectly!

I spent the holiday with two of my closest friends, Cody and Zoe. We drove all the way down to the Moapa Valley Indian reservation because setting off the huge illegal fireworks is legal there. It was honestly amazing!! Zoe and I said it was like a DIY Disneyland haha.

Yeah, I totally had an outfit change in the middle of my night hahah. It was soooo windy and my dress kept blowing up! S/O to my mom for suggesting bringing a change of clothes with me lol. Also, I did a Roman Candle but was kinda afraid at the same time haha.

All in all, it was an awesome 4th of July. I'm so thankful to have the wonderful friends that I do. Let me know the highlight of your Fourth in the comments!!

Wednesday, June 25

Today, again, was just a casual wear day because I knew I had to do a LOT of things in preparation for college today. For those of you that don't know, I will be attending the College of Southern Nevada in the fall to get my associate's degree in Art, and from there will be transferring to California State University, Long Beach to accomplish my Bachelor's in Fashion Merchandising. So, with that being unnecessarily said, here's what I wore today:
Front and back (side?) views of my outfit. I need to start being ready earlier because I always take my outfit photos before work in the morning, and they always end up a little rushed. They'll get better, don't worry!!

Describe a Las Vegas summer in 3 words: cutoffs and desertscape.

The shoes you wear, in my opinion, can make or break your outfit. Today was clearly a very Western-inspired outfit, so I opted for my Aldo ankle boots. I actually snagged these for only $10 at Plato's Closet- I probably saved like a solid $90!

One of my favorite (and noisiest) necklaces. Its by Premier Jewelry, my cousin is a rep for them and got this for a birthday or something of mine. Also shout out to my nails for actually looking nice!!

Today, my boss let me off work early so I could turn in some college paperwork. At UNLV, I turned in my withdrawl form but I got SO lost trying to find the correct building and I was frustrated to the point of fake tears haha. Anyways, I got that taken care of and then drove straight to CSN to turn in some forms I needed. The guy there was so helpful and nice and I would shout him out if I knew his name but good luck in Med School whatever your name is!

After that, I got home and immediately registered for my classes so that I could get a decent schedule. I'll be going to school 3 days a week (bless). I'll be going to school Monday and Wednesday from 4-9, and on Saturday from 9-12:30.

Okay, enough of that boring stuff. After I did that frustrating stuff, Kamryn, Erin and I went out to do hoodrat stuff. Just kidding! (Sorta) Kamryn got her nose peirced and we all bought 79 cent slushes at Sonic lol. It was a lot of fun being with people that you don't have to feel self conscious around and can just talk and laugh easily with. Here's a really cute pic of us:

That was sarcasm, this photo is actually awful but we all have our nose pierced on the same side now!!!

Anyways, what is your favorite place to go with your friends? Let me know in the comments (:

Monday, June 23

All morning at work I thought it was the 22nd for some reason so I was very thrown off for a good chunk of the day. It was a pretty normal day, with no crazy cool event happening at work or at home. Here's what I wore today:
I got a hair trim on Saturday and my hair has never looked so long and healthy! I luv it <3

Caught off-guard (not really)

Back view.

This silk tank top is simply darling to me. It likes to slip off my shoulders and down the front so I kept it still with some double sided tape placed at the top edge of my bra. This was actually a hand-me-down from my best friend's sister and is the first time I've worn it.

My fab Gloria Vanderbilt jeans that I found while thrifting for $5!

So I've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans that fit my figure well and I forgot entirely that I had these Vanderbilt beauties hiding away in my closet! Rolled up three times at the bottom, they became those perfect pair of boyfriend-fit jeans that I've been craving. And the light color is perfect for summer. The top happened to look great with it as well and created a very comfy but stylish look paired with cut out oxford-style shoes that I got from Charlotte Russe back in March. I actually opted for no belt today (which is extremely unusual because I almost always wear a belt) but I think it enhanced the comfy boyfriend's clothing look I was going for. I can't handle how much I love the vintage oriental silk tank though! This needs to be worn more often, for sure.

Also I have to give a shout out to my hair lady, Kelly, for making my dead-ended mop turn into a fabulous hair do!

Well, that's all for today. Tell me what your favorite comfy go-to pants are in the comments below!!

Thursday, June 19

It's been a while! I'm not very good at keeping regular with blog posts yet, but I'll get better with time! Anyways, today was a craaaazy day because not only did I work for like the whole day (I'm young still, 8 hours is a lot to me!) but we also had the fashion speaker series. Here's what I wore today:
You guys have seen like my entire back yard now.

Shout out to my mom's shadow.
Obsessed with these fab Aldo flats that I got from Zappos! They were the last pair in stock in my size so I had to pounce on them (plus-They were on sale!)
Also so obsessed with this fantastic red canvas satchel from Gypsy Warrior. I really needed a new purse and this was a great transition from my yellow one into a new color with details to keep it interesting. It's like a tiny bit too small for my taste but I can make it work (:
Super cute photo of my shoes because since I have an iPhone and an Instagram I'm a photographer just like all the other white girls haha
Also, today at work we had D'Wayne Edwards, founder of Pensole Footwear Academy and former shoe designer for the Jordan company in to give a class about Product Design. It's really cool being this young and being able to learn about things like this. D'Wayne is also really cool and down to earth. He hung out at Stitch Factory a little after that day and was talking to a bunch of people and he gave me a lot of tips about starting a career because he knows I just graduated. He's so positive and helpful, and will tell you how it is!

Stitch Factory also had it's monthly Fashion Speaker Series talks as well tonight! Elaine Pow, Julia Lovallo and Chelsey Hall were that night's speakers. They all had really interesting talks and Elaine really inspired me about paying attention to the detail in the branding of my future ideal company that I want to have. Idk yet for sure but I think I've figured out what I want to do with my future Fashion Merchandising degree. We'll see. Hopefully I'll just get ridiculously famous and rich soon and not have to worry about it haha.

Anyways, that's it! Keep checking back for more updates, I'm going to try to post a whopping 2 posts next week!

Monday, June 9th

Hi all! Today was a fairly busy day with trying to relax in the morning but also having work and a photo shoot back to back. I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I'm an aspiring actress and model. The easiest way for me to get better (personally) at acting and modeling is to actively be in front of a camera practicing. Anyways, here was my outfit today:
Look back @ it

Cheese!!

My mom rocks at taking photos

Close up of my fab top

It was SUCH a gorgeous day in Vegas. Look at those clear blue skies! Clear skies days are my favorite days. I am CRAZY for this halter top! It is definitely one of my favorite recent purchases. I got this from sameoldchic.bigcartel.com. Courtney is the owner, and an avid blogger as well (thestyleplaylist.blogspot.com) and is my style icon and inspiration for creating Style Savoir. Everything she sells in her shop is awesome! I highly recommend her. My shorts are from the good ol thrift shop; not Plato's this time lol but Goodwill! It's more hit or miss there but sometimes I get lucky and score gems like these shorts that I love oh so much. They were too big and a little too long when I first got them, but my sweet, loving mother darted the back to take the waist in and folded and sewed the bottom of them for me. You'll all see a photo of my parents and sister soon enough (:

Anyways, work today was pretty rushed (mondays are shipping days for Bow and Drape items--always some sort of crazy) and after we got all of our orders shipped out, one of the seamstresses asked me if I shipped out a shirt that should have had a pocket on it, because she just realized that she forgot to put a pocket on it. I was honestly so irritated at first because Bow and Drape at Stitch Factory is ultimately my responsibility and if something gets shipped out wrong it's ultimately my fault. But in the end, we got the problem solved even though I should have definetley double checked everything that went out to make sure it was all accurate. Oh well, you live and learn and being 17 I sure have a lot of living and learning to catch up on. You'll get a post later on about what the heck it means when I say I'm in charge of Bow and Drape, stay tuned lol.

Having to fix my previous error for work made me about 10 minutes late for my photo shoot with Richard (he rocks check him out at www.rjplv.com),  a photographer I had worked with previously that had asked me to model for him again in a test shoot. I got there at 6:25 and we left at 10:45. A solid 4+ hours of shooting but I had a lot of fun. When I'm modeling I try to be goofy with the photographer so that we both get comfortable with each other and can preform at the best we can. We both had a lot of fun and we got some seriously quality photos out of it. He also brought his polaroid camera (I LOVE POLAROIDS SO MUCH!!!!) and snapped some so super cute shots of me. Its funny because I can take as many selfies as I want and look demented but right when someone else is taking the photo I am all of a sudden super photogenic. It's so weird haha.
One of the outfits for a really cool lighting test (an actual okay selfie--high five to myself)

Some fun polaroids! (bonus-my feet at the bottom lol)

Absolutely obsessed with these two. So darn cute! Not to toot my own horn but HAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!

Tupac never died. He "died" in 96, I was born in 96, not a coincidence. (I am the reborn Tupac. You should hear me rap along to Iggy Azalea.)

Tomorrow should be great because my older sister Nikki comes home!!! Yay!!! Let me know in the comments if you have any family coming home soon, Nikki's coming in for my Graduation on Wednesday. Can't wait to have my partner in crime back with me! (Hi Nikki if you're reading this)
